Rhielan and Cian, best buddies

Here are two videos of Cian and Rhielan "taking naps" at daycare:

This was their last week in the "older infant" room. Last week we lived through the torture excitement of moving up to the "toddler" room. As much as I hate change, Cian might be worse. It was a rough week, filled with lots of tears and meltdowns. We even had to forgo our normal Tue and Thur spent with PopPoP and Grammy and have Cian go to daycare all 5 days straight to try and break him down and accept his new room, teachers and schedule. We had lots of early bedtimes (due to crying all day long and not taking naps) and lots of wine and beer for mommy and daddy. It was a rough week for all of us!

Once he stopped crying and calmed down (which only took till Thursday!) he got to enjoy storytime, arts and crafts, water play, science experiments, playing on the playground outside AND taking naps on cots! His old room was a lot of free play time and little structure - so lots more fun times now.

Here are some funny pictures of Cian's teachers trying to get a smile from him for his little cubby bin.... guess which one made the final cut?

and the winner is....

When Brian saw these pictures, it reminded him of a certain cartoon character....

In other new..... look at our big boy, taking his nap on his little cot!

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day! We spent a quiet day at home, hanging out. Cian watched the US Open with his daddy (had to have snacks to enjoy couch time w/ daddy!)

and Cian tried on Daddy's new golf shirt... which he didn't like very much.

Playing hooky

Brian got tickets to the practice round of the US Open on Wednesday so we took the day off and had a fun day watching the golfers. I have decided that I can have fun at any sporting event with hospitality tents!

Merions's club house

The Citizen's Bank hospitality tent. Built in the front yard of houses on the golf course (See the house peeking out behind?)
Oh well, it got us free drinks, food, A/C and nicer toilets than port-a-potties!

The owners of the house wouldn't allow their tree to be torn down (many home owners did allow this) so they built the platform around the tree.

When was the last time you saw this?? No cell phones allowed due to security issues. It was nice to have everyone unplugged for the day.

School Picture time!

Its that time again- time to post the horrible, cheesy school pictures from daycare! This time, they are just horrible. Cian badly needed a haircut and he wasn't thrilled with the photographer so we got these winners:

Here are the pictures from a year ago... not sure which are worse...

May Catch up

Can't believe its the middle of June already. May was super busy for us, so we are enjoying a couple of quiet weekends at home now to recuperate from May....

We started May celebrating Shannon and Jen's wedding on the Eastern Shore. Cian spent a long weekend with his grammy and pop pop while we were away. We missed Jackson's 1st birthday party, but Cian was there to represent, while Brian and Jeff were groomsmen for Shannon's big day.

It was a fabulous wedding, complete with the Star Wars theme song down the aisle which made Brian very happy. And it was so nice to have a long weekend to sleep in and relax but we couldn't wait to get home to our little man and his really silly personality.

Then we celebrated Mother's Day. Got my first mother's day art project from Cian...

and 20 minutes before we had to leave for brunch with Kevin and Peggy, Cian pressed a little too hard on his applesauce pouch and shot a line of applesauce right into his hair. Notice how the mess did not stop Cian for enjoying what was left of his applesauce. I will admit, we stood there and seriously considered how we could clean this up without washing his hair. Parent fail. It was all good, we needed to brush up on giving a bath and getting dressed in under 10 minutes.

Cian and his little friend Rhielan are having a blast in school together. Everyone loves to watch these two hang out. Most of the teachers have known these two since they were 3months old and have seen them become buddies. Here is a cute video of Cian, sort of, sharing his goldfish with Rhielan. (no we don't dress them alike on purpose!)

Our town's fire department celebrated their 100 year anniversary with a parade right by our house so we took Cian to watch with our neighbor's son, Reese (1 of the 5 boys on our street now!)

Most of our weeknights are spent hanging out with Cian and picking up balls. Thank you again McReynolds for his ballpit!!! Couldn't even imagine what our house would look like if we put the real ball pit out with all of the balls that are currently hidden in the basement.

By the end of May, the inevitable occurred: Cian needed his 4th haircut. We sat in our car outside of the hair salon, said a little prayer that Cian had outgrown his fear of getting his haircut and went inside to face this:

Here is Cian's new haircut - doesn't he look so cute and happy?
Such a poor kid having to go through such torture

To try and prevent any lasting damage and future therapy from getting his haircut, we took Cian to the park that weekend for a little fun. He's old enough to play on the playground and loves the slide.

Trying to get a family picture...

Lastly, we've been trying new foods

and discovering new body parts (with help from grammy)
