Easter Sunday

A couple of pictures from Easter Sunday...

Swimming!

Signed Cian up for Mommy and Me swimming classes with his little buddy Rhielan and his mom. So cute to see the boys hanging out together. And Cian is loving the water - we can dunk him under water without tears!

Cousins!

Spent the weekend with Kristin, Noel and Jackson at their new house. So much fun to see the cousins together, playing and interacting more with each other. Here are a couple of pics of Jackson and Cian hanging out...

haircut torture

In Cian's 13 months, we've had to cut his hair three times now. This kid has a head of hair.  And it grows fast!

Unfortunately, Cian hates getting his hair cut. His first haircut was perfect. He sat on Brian's lap, sucked on his paci and got his hair trimmed at the Super Cuts down the street. It looked great. The Super Cuts is so close, future cuts will be so easy. This will be perfect.

Then came the 2nd visit. It didn't go so well. The poor people waiting in the Super Cuts that Sunday afternoon got the treat of listening to Cian scream at the top of his lungs for 10 minutes while Brian held him down and I held his face to get his hair cut. We would let his hair grow long, but it tickles his ears which makes Cian play with his ears, which makes every single person in the world come up to us to tell us our son has an ear infection.

After the 2nd visit, we decided never again. He would have long hair, we couldn't go through that again. Then our neighbor told us of a hair place that has the fun cars kids sit in and watch tv while they get their hair cut. We were sold. Didn't matter its a 40 minute drive. Done.

So, this past weekend it was time for haircut #3. Cian's hair is out of control and its bothering his ears. We let him take a nice long nap. Fed him his favorite foods and off we went.

This happened:

Where are the fun little cars? Yeah, Cian wanted no part of them. The poor stylist did the best she could with a 13 month old screaming and moving all around....only one mishap...

a little chunk of missing hair because someone moved while she was cutting.
sigh. at least no blood was shed

Happy St. Patty's Day

What? You didn't spend your St. Patty's day in a bar, reading about the 5 hungry caterpillars?

Let's recap our day to better understand how we ended up in a bar. With a baby.

~ Went to church for the 2nd time since we were married.

~ While waiting to introduced ourselves to the pastor, Cian throws up goldfish all down my shirt and inside my winter coat. Ok, we've made it this far to turn around so I simply buttoned up my coat and carry on.

~ Pastor was not thrilled with our "lapse" membership joke and made a comment about how she won't do a "drive by baptism" for Cian. Ouch. OK, we knew we would have to go back to church for awhile before getting Cian baptized but didn't expect to be called out during introductions.

~ After nap time, we attempt Cian's 3rd haircut. It didn't go well

~ Its St Patty's Day and we need a beer and some corn beef and cabbage. Due to crowds, we end up at Gypsy so no corn beef. Brian orders a Guinness and is told the keg is tapped and no one can change it. So no beer for Brian until back up arrives. While I eat Italian and drink a non-Irish beer, Brian has story time with Cian. We feel like the worst parents in the world, having a 13 month old in a restaurant / bar the same day he threw up and had a haircut meltdown.

Sigh. St Patty's Day always makes me miss Southie.  9 years ago, I was enjoying the Southie St Patty's Day parade with all of my good friends, about to meet the love of my life. I wouldn't change a thing and am just trying to enjoy moments like today. In a bar, on St. Patty's Day reading about the hungry caterpillars.
