Finally, summer is here! And what better way to mark the start of summer, the grand opening of the pool than with spending the 3 day weekend potty training Cian???
So, it turns out that Cian knew exactly what the deal was with using the potty all along, he just didn't want to. But you bribe him and tell him he can't use the pool until he says goodbye to his diapers and it turns into a pretty easy choice. Just wish Cian had told us that he had figured it out already. Cause mom and dad didn't realize that. So here we are, following him around, waiting for an accident, asking him every 20 minutes to sit on the toilet "in case". He finally yelled at us "I don't have to go to the bathroom!!!!!". So we relaxed a bit. He told us when he needed to go and that was that. We had a couple of accidents, but pretty easy. Whew! Off to the pool!

Picked Cian up from school today and he was all excited that the circus was in town. I knew that the circus had been in town a couple of weeks ago, as I saw all of the other moms post it on Facebook and I immediately had mommy guilt for not being on top of things and getting us tickets. So, I was a little worried that Cian heard something wrong at school. But Cian was adamant that one of the girls in his class was going to the circus that weekend.
Brian did a little investigating and found out the shriner's club down the street did in fact have the circus and town so we went. It was really scary! A very small circus with one sad elephant. And a bunch of protestors and carny folk. Oh lord. But Cian got cotton candy and lemonade and saw an elephant so he was thrilled!
You know I'll over the next time Barnum and Bailey come to town now!
It's not easy, at all, to surprise Brian. But I think I was finally able to throw him a surprise party that caught him off guard. I tried to throw a surprise party for his 30th birthday, but the Navy screwed that one up. So it was a lot of fun to finally get him : )
Brian thought he had a neighbor's birthday party on Saturday so he stayed home while Cian and I ran some "errands" - you know, pick up a cake, swing by the airport to pick up Josh and Christie. While I was gone, Shannon and Jeff came to the house to surprise Brian and take him golfing. At the club was his dad, Noel, Kevin and JB waiting for him.
While they golfed, Cian and I were at the airport waiting on Josh and Christie to make it to baggage claim. When the rudest woman ran right into me! Surprise is on me, as Josh also flew in Leslie!!
What an awesome surprise because she is the only person in the world that I could tell "I need to wrap this lumber in burlap" and she wouldn't ask why, what for, nothing. She just looked at me and asked where my staple gun was and get done to work. While Cian showered her with bubbles. LOVE HER!!!!
Here are some of the party details - after golf the boys were heading over to The Farmer's Daughter where the rest of the party would be waiting to celebrate with an awesome dinner and cake.

So nice to have my family here to help / save the set up. My brothers figured out how to support the lumber to hold all the pictures. In my planning, I didn't account for the weight of the pictures - duh!

Its always the day after when scrolling thru your photos that you come across pictures taken by Josh and Leslie when you weren't looking!
For my birthday, I got to be in NYC at an awards dinner for work. We accepted 12 awards for the Thanksgiving campaign, but I would have rather have been home with my boys....
Here is a very funny video (at least now we can laugh). While Brian and I were out in Philadelphia enjoying his birthday celebration, we got the following video from Joe and Lacey who were babysitting Cian. Which quickly led to a phone call to said babysitters to check on our son-- he was fine.
